A bible that stays current

An AI story bible that remembers your novel

An AI story bible should be more than a folder of notes. In NovelGPT your people, places, rules and promises live beside the manuscript, and Story memory reads each chapter so the record matches what you actually wrote.

No sign-up. 1,000 free credits every month.

How it works

  1. Fill the bible as you plan

People, Places & world, themes, a Timeline and free-form Notes all start from your setup or from your own hand, and every card stays editable.

  2. Give your world its rules

Describe a place, its sights, sounds and the rules that govern it. The AI is handed them whenever it writes a scene set there.

  3. Write, and let memory read

After you leave a chapter you changed, or the AI finishes one, Story memory can read it back into facts, threads and a summary.

  4. Track what you have promised

Promises to the reader lists each setup with its payoff chapter, and marks any that have gone overdue.

  5. Ask your book

Chat that knows your book answers from your chapters, points to where it found things and proposes edits as cards you approve.

A story bible app that is part of the manuscript

An AI story bible is not a separate document; it is the same data the AI is given when it writes. Places hold a description, a category and the five senses. People hold what they want and what they believe. Notes hold research, with badges for what is verified, likely, uncertain or unverified.

As a world building app it favours rules over lore dumps. Write down how magic costs, how far a ship travels in a day or who may enter the archive, and the setting stays consistent when you return to it in chapter 30.

AI that remembers your story: facts, threads and summaries

Story memory is what makes the bible live. It reads a changed chapter and records facts (a person moved, learned something or lost an item), threads (promises opened, advanced or resolved) and a summary. From those records it can reconstruct what was true at the opening of any chapter.

It runs in the background on a model you choose, never while you are typing, and never silently. A switch in Settings and Book settings shows roughly what each chapter costs in credits, every chapter has a freshness dot on the Story Spine, and reading a whole book at once always asks first.

Timeline, promises and a chat that cites chapters

The Timeline places events in story order, with a swimlane per person and flashbacks connected back to reading order, so a story told out of sequence still adds up. Promises to the reader follows every setup through to its payoff, so a gun on the mantelpiece is never left unfired.

Chat lives in the Inspector. Ask where a scar first appears or what someone knew in chapter 8. On Claude and GPT models it looks the answer up in your chapters and story memory and cites the chapters it used. A suggested change to a person, place or passage arrives as a card you approve, with Undo.

Questions writers ask

What is a story bible?

A story bible is the reference for a book: its people, places, rules, timeline and the promises the story has made. Writers keep one so that details stay the same from the first chapter to the last.

Does the AI remember my book, or does it re-read all of it every time?

Neither alone. Story memory turns each chapter into facts, threads and a summary. For each writing action NovelGPT then hands the AI the people, places, recent chapters and open promises that matter to that chapter, and 'What the AI sees' shows exactly what was sent, with a switch for each item.

Can I use it as a series bible?

Each book has its own people, places and memory. Dedicated series tools are not available yet, so for now a series means one book per volume.

Is my AI story bible used to train AI models?

No. Your writing and the notes around it are yours, and NovelGPT's terms say your content is not used to train AI models and is not sold.
