An AI fantasy novel writer that holds your world together

A fantasy novel asks readers to learn a world and trusts you never to break it. NovelGPT is an AI fantasy novel writer that keeps your places, rules and cast in one story memory, so chapter forty obeys what chapter four established.

How it works

  1. Describe the world in a sentence

Type a premise or pick the Epic fantasy Quick start. NovelGPT proposes a subgenre, tone, length, story shape and cast size, including a large ensemble, and you change anything before the book exists.

  2. Write the rules into Places & world

Add entries for geography, politics, culture, religion, economy and the magic system. Give each place its sights, sounds and smells, and write the cost of magic down once.

  3. Build and name the cast

Give each person what they want and what they wrongly believe. Add more people one at a time, by hand or with Add one with AI, whenever the story grows.

  4. Plan the whole book

Pick a story shape such as the Hero's Journey, then plan the chapters. A long book is planned in several parts, and each part reads the chapters before it.

  5. Draft, then check

Draft with the AI or by hand. Free checks catch name typos and people who appear after they left, and the consistency check quotes both pages when a chapter contradicts an earlier one.

Magic system and world building the AI respects

Readers forgive a strange world but not an inconsistent one: magic that costs blood in chapter three cannot be free in chapter thirty. An AI fantasy novel writer has to treat the world as a rulebook. In NovelGPT the world lives in Places & world, with categories for geography, politics, culture, religion, economy, history and the magic system. For fantasy, the world step is asked to give magic clear rules and costs, and you can edit every line.

When the AI drafts a chapter it is given the places that chapter is set in, the people in it and what each of them knows, and the promises still open. Story memory supplies the rest by reading each chapter into facts: where a person is, whether they are alive, dead, missing or away, what they hold and know, and where their allegiance lies. A rebel who changed sides in chapter nine is on the other side in chapter ten.

Epic fantasy is long, and long books forget

A typical fantasy novel runs to about 100,000 words, and reading all of it for every request would be slow and costly. Instead, each writing action is given full summaries of the last few chapters and a one-line recap of the rest. Story memory has its own switch in Settings and shows roughly what a chapter costs, so it never works in secret.

To see what the AI was given, long-press any AI button to open What the AI sees. It lists the people, places, promises and chapters in the request, with a switch beside each one, so you can leave out what does not belong.

Names, titles and timelines for a big cast

Fantasy casts come with long names, titles and houses, and names change late. Rename a person or place once and NovelGPT shows how many chapters, plans and notes mention it, lets you choose which to update, and applies the change in one step with one Undo. The free checks catch near-miss spellings as you go, so Valdris does not quietly become Valdriss.

The Timeline keeps events in story time, with a lane for each person on wider screens and connectors to where flashbacks and prologues sit in the reading order. Book parts can add a prologue, glossary or epigraph, which it recommends for fantasy.

Subgenres you can choose

Pick a genre and subgenre in your Story setup, and every suggestion follows their conventions. Change the length, point of view and tense any time.

Questions writers ask

Can I write a fantasy book with AI and still own it?

Yes. You own every word, including text the AI writes for you, and your writing is never used to train AI. Every AI change arrives as a suggestion you accept or reject.

Does it work for grimdark, cozy fantasy or LitRPG?

Yes. Grimdark, Cozy Fantasy and LitRPG/Progression are among the subgenres you can pick, and the subgenre shapes the suggestions. Urban fantasy and LitRPG default to first person.

What if my cast is bigger than the setup proposes?

The setup proposes up to ten people. Add more at any time, by hand or with Add one with AI, and the relationship web and Book map grow with them.

Can an AI fantasy novel writer keep a magic system consistent?

It can if the rules are written down. Put them in Places & world, and story memory records what happens chapter by chapter. When a chapter breaks a rule, the consistency check quotes both passages, and a change you meant can be marked as intentional.
