Delete your account

You can delete your NovelGPT account and its data at any time, for free. This works for signed-in accounts and for guest accounts.

Delete in the app

1. Open NovelGPT and go to Settings › Account.
2. Signed in: tap Delete account. Guest: tap Delete my data.
3. Read the summary and confirm. If you signed in with Apple, you may be asked to confirm with Apple.

Deletion happens straight away. The app then starts again with a new, empty guest account.

Delete without the app

If you no longer have the app, email support@novelgpt.app with the subject "Delete my account":

• Signed-in accounts: send the email from the address you sign in with. If you used Sign in with Apple with a hidden email, tell us that, and we will help you confirm it is you.
• Guest accounts: include the Account ID from Settings › Account if you have it. Without it, we cannot find a guest account, because guest accounts are not linked to an email address.

We confirm your identity, delete the account within 7 days, and email you when it is done.

Cancel your subscription first

Deleting your account does not cancel a subscription bought through the App Store or Google Play, because the store bills you, not us. Cancel it in your store account so you are not charged again:

• iPhone, iPad or Mac: Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions, or apps.apple.com/account/subscriptions
• Android: Google Play › Payments & subscriptions, or play.google.com/store/account/subscriptions

If you subscribed on the web at novelgpt.app (when web purchases are available), deleting your account cancels that subscription.

Unused credits and the remaining time on a subscription are lost when you delete your account, and they are not refunded, except where our Refunds policy or the law says otherwise.

What is deleted

• Your account, sign-in details (email address, Apple or Google identifier) and Account ID.
• Your credit balance.
• Books, chapters, notes and AI conversations synced to our cloud database.
• The books stored on the device you delete from. Books on other devices or browsers you used as a guest are not reachable by us. Remove them by deleting the app or clearing the browser's site data on that device.
• Your customer record at our payments provider (RevenueCat), and your Sign in with Apple authorisation.
• Reports you sent about AI responses are separated from your account.

What is kept, and why

• Purchase and usage records (dates, amounts, credits, which AI model) are kept for 7 years, because New Zealand tax law requires us to keep business records. They are separated from your identity, and references to your books are removed.
• Store and payment records held by Apple, Google or Stripe are kept under their own policies.
• Backups of our database are overwritten on a rolling schedule within 30 days.
• Server logs expire within 30 days.
• AI providers delete request data under their own retention periods (usually within 30 days). See our Privacy Policy.

Want to keep your writing?

Before deleting, export each book from Publish › Export (DOCX, EPUB, PDF, Markdown or plain text). After deletion, we cannot recover your books.
